Diverse teams outperform non-diverse teams — every time

  • A continuously fair and equitable firm culture? Check.
  • A level of diversity among staff that reflects our communities and clients? We’re getting there.

At Plante & Moran, we know that diversity transcends the obvious; it’s not just differences in race, religion, gender, and physical ability. It’s much, much more.

Diversity Wheel

Diversity awareness has become an increasingly important part of our culture. A culture that leverages our similarities and our differences to help us meet our objectives.

That’s why Plante & Moran created the Diversity Council — to guide the firm toward long-term success and growth through improving client service and staff satisfaction.  The Diversity Council, made up of a cross-section of active and retired partners and staff, advises firm leaders, tracks the firm’s progress, and identifies opportunities to promote a thriving and diverse environment. In addition, the Council recommends strategic action steps that will contribute to the firm’s ability to understand, embrace, and effectively manage human differences. All to help make Plante & Moran the most desirable firm for current and potential staff and clients.

what our staff have to say

“Prior to diversity training, I thought diversity encompassed race, sex, and religion, but it’s so much more. It’s geographic location, staff level, personal habits, income — it’s everywhere. Someone once said, ‘You can’t learn about the world by reading one page of a book.’ By embracing diversity, we’re planning for what the future will be — not what we believe it should be.”

“Sometimes older, more experienced staff are perceived as inflexible, and although credentials and experience should be enough to qualify for a particular position, that perceived inflexibility, which is directly related to age, becomes an obstacle. At Plante & Moran, age is not a liability. Here, maturity and experience are very much assets.”
