Principles for Good Governance
The Panel on the Nonprofit Sector has released Principles for Good Governance and Ethical Practice: A Guide for Charities and Foundations. A broad cross-section of the American nonprofit community developed this guide, which discusses the advancement of governance and self-regulation through ethical conduct, accountability, and transparency. The Guide outlines 33 principles organized under four main categories:
- Legal Compliance and Public Disclosure
- Effective Governance
- Strong Financial Oversight
- Responsible Fundraising
These principles guide board members and staff leaders of charitable organizations as they work to improve their own operations. For more information, or to see the full list of principles, please visit www.nonprofitpanel.org.
