Flint-Based BKR Dupuis & Ryden Joins
Plante & Moran, PLLC

Flint, Michigan, June 30, 2005 — Plante & Moran, PLLC, the Michigan-based public accounting and business advisory firm with offices throughout Michigan, Ohio and Illinois, announces a merger with BKR Dupuis & Ryden, an accounting and consulting firm with offices in Flint and Ann Arbor, effective July 1, 2005. With the addition of BKR Dupuis & Ryden, Plante & Moran continues its reach as the dominant public accounting and consulting firm in the Great Lakes region.

BKR Dupuis & Ryden was established in 1932 and is Flint’s oldest and largest accounting firm, with 60 staff, seven partners, and $7.5 million in annual revenue between its Flint and Ann Arbor offices. The merger gives Plante & Moran, already the nation’s tenth largest CPA firm, a total of 1,450 staff, and annual revenues of $212 million, as well as a significant presence in what it has long deemed a desirable market.

“Plante & Moran has been looking at expanding to the Flint area for years; now, the timing is right,” acknowledges Bill Hermann, Plante & Moran’s Managing Partner. “Both our firms are intensely focused on meeting the evolving needs of a diverse client base, and that’s a critical factor in any successful merger consideration. Together, Plante & Moran and BKR Dupuis & Ryden will have stronger service capabilities and a broader geographic reach, continuing the momentum of Plante & Moran’s Great Lakes growth strategy.”

BKR Dupuis & Ryden will stay true to its Flint roots, adopting the Plante & Moran name but remaining in its existing downtown Flint office location. Dave Gibbons, managing partner of BKR Dupuis & Ryden, is pleased that the merger will bring new, broader-based services to its clients and enhanced career opportunities to the staff.

“Our clients will experience a seamless and transparent integration into the newly merged firm, aside from the name change, with an impressive menu of niche service options” says Gibbons. “Equally important, our staff are enthusiastic about the professional development and career opportunities afforded by such a large and nationally respected firm like Plante & Moran
.”
