Plante & Moran’s Murphy Receives American Woman’s Society of CPAs 2007 Woman CPA of the Year Award
Southfield, Mich. — October 30, 2007 — Plante & Moran, PLLC, the nations 12th largest certified public accounting and business advisory firm, is proud to announce that Leslie Murphy, partner, is the recipient of the American Woman’s Society of CPAs 2007 Woman CPA of the Year Award. This prestigious award recognizes an individual for outstanding contributions to the accounting profession. Criteria for this award are professional accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, and contributions which further the advancement of women in the profession.
“This is a great honor,” said Murphy. “The American Woman’s Society of CPAs is a group of exemplary woman who have made a great contribution to the accounting profession.”
Murphy, who joined Plante & Moran in 1973, has been a member of the firm’s senior leadership team for the past six years and served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2006. Leslie, who is dedicated and active in the community, serves as vice chair of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and will become chair in 2009. She also is incoming chair of the Detroit Regional Chamber and is chairing the Mackinac Policy Conference in June. In addition, she is the vice chair of the St. John Health System board and will become chair next summer.
The American Woman’s Society of CPAs formally presented Murphy with the award at its annual Awards Gala on October 26, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Plante & Moran also received the The American Society of Women Accountants Educational Foundation Balance Award which recognizes the best regional company with a commitment to work/life balance.
