Many of the most stunning pieces of fine jewelry sold in chain jewelry stores across America are designed and manufactured by this Chicago-based jeweler. The $35 million to $40 million company competes in a highly competitive global market driven by artistry and efficiency.

The company’s president approached Plante & Moran Global Services with a plan to set up a manufacturing facility in India to augment production in his downtown studio in the Windy City. He had traveled to India, and there appeared to be significant savings to be gained from the Indian workforce and closer proximity to quantities of finished diamonds. He wanted to take the next steps.

We met with the president to qualify his needs, discuss his business objectives and establish a formal plan with critical milestones and objectives.

To structure things properly, we set up an offshore holding company in the Mauritius Islands and put the company in touch with resources we trusted in India, including our MRI affiliate. We were quickly able to lay out the various tax structures, complete all documentation, and set up the necessary financial accounts to get the company’s Indian operation up and running smoothly. Today the company’s beautiful jewelry is being created for domestic and world markets profitably in both Chicago and India.
