Plante & Moran’s Hermann Named one of 2008’s “Top Five Most Admired Peers”

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan —
Plante & Moran, PLLC, one of the nation’s largest accounting and business advisory firms, is proud to announce that Bill Hermann, CPA, the firm’s managing partner, has been named one of 2008’s “Top Five Most Admired Peers” by INSIDE Public Accounting (IPA). IPA, an independent newsletter for the accounting industry that reports and analyzes news, trends, strategies, and politics, determined the ranking by surveying accounting firms and asking respondents to “name one peer in the profession that you most admire”.

“It is an honor to be recognized as an admired peer in the accounting profession,” said Hermann. “This is a testament to the deep knowledge and high level service Plante & Moran provides to its clients.”

In the eight years that Hermann has served as Plante & Moran’s Managing Partner, he has led the firm’s growth expanding the firm's geographic footprint and broadening service capabilities. In 2005, the firm merged with the BKR Dupuis & Ryden, a Flint, Michigan CPA firm, and added additional capabilities by joining with Wetmore & Associates, an Illinois firm. In 2004, he led Plante & Moran’s merger with the Chicago firm, Gleeson, Sklar, Sawyers and Cumpata and the expansion of the firm’s international capabilities through the creation of Plante & Moran Global Services which has an office and staff members in Shanghai, China and Monterrey, Mexico. Also under Hermann’s direction, Plante Moran Trust, a trust bank formed to meet clients’ estate planning needs, was formed.

Other peers named on IPA’s list of 2008’s “Top Five Most Admired Peers” include: Antonio Argiz from Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra in Miami, FL; Kenneth Baggett from Reznick Group in Bethesda, MD; Robert Bunting from Moss Adams in Seattle, WA; and Timothy Christen from Virchow Krause in Madison, WI.

In addition, the newsletter, which was released in August, also featured the nation’s Top 100 accounting firms. The firm is pleased to report that Plante & Moran was once again ranked the 12th largest accounting firm in the nation.
