Plante & Moran Conducts a Survey of Regional Businesses

The Top Concerns of Leaders Will Determine Topics in a Seminar Series Designed to Grow, Strengthen Business Community

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Plante & Moran, PLLC is conducting a survey of middle-market businesses in the Midwest to define a new seminar series it plans to launch this summer.

One of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, Plante & Moran is surveying executives throughout the Midwest that have $10 million to $200 million in revenue. Answers to the seven question survey will allow Plante & Moran to determine topics most of interest to chief executive officers, chief operating officers, chief financial officers, chief information technology officers, and other management team members who are looking for ideas to grow and innovate.

The seminar, “Topics 4 the Times: ideas for business growth and innovation,” is planned for June. Depending on the outcome of the business survey, topics may include:

  • Financing growth and raising capital
  • Identifying tax dollars to recoup on green investments
  • Structuring a business to minimize taxes
  • Evaluating domestic expansion strategies
  • Growing revenue internationally
  • Establishing process efficiencies relative to new products or services
  • Creating a culture of innovation

The firm plans to launch the first of its “Topics 4 the Times” seminars in Grand Rapids this summer, inviting business owners and business leaders from Holland, Muskegon, Allegan, Saugatuck, Grand Haven, and the greater Grand Rapids area to participate in the half-day sessions. Plante & Moran will use the Grand Rapids seminar as a template to establish programs throughout Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio.

“Plante & Moran specializes in working with middle-market companies — those businesses that have grown beyond start-up and are looking at ways to expand profitably, despite these challenging economic times,” said Gordon Krater, managing partner, Plante & Moran. “Our goal is to encourage profitable growth in these second-stage businesses, and we wanted to reach out to these executives to learn more about what might be beneficial to them.”

Plante & Moran’s survey will close on Friday, April 9, and on Friday, April 16, results will be published on www.plantemoran.com. For each survey completed, Plante & Moran will donate a meal to Feeding America to help children and families in need.
