Joe Oleksak leads practice with a focus on PCI certification and other strategic IT initiatives
— Plante & Moran, PLLC, one of the nation’s largest accounting and business advisory firms, today announced it is significantly enhancing its information security assurance and technology consulting practice in Chicago, which will provide a range of IT solutions. Led by manager Joe Oleksak, who is relocating to Chicago, the practice will be the firm’s second-largest security assurance practice.
The establishment of the new practice highlights the tremendous demands that both government and industry-specific regulations are placing on companies, especially in the middle market. Plante & Moran’s security assurance and consulting practice’s services including information security risk assessments; PCI DSS compliance; SAS70/SSAE16 reviews; information technology auditing; network security penetration assessments; web application penetration testing; business continuity planning; red flags compliance; HIPAA HITECH and SOX 404 compliance.
“The group’s presence in our Chicago office is a true testament to Plante & Moran’s continued growth and will greatly enhance our service capabilities for companies in a variety of industries, as well as our local reach,” said Chris Montague, office managing partner of Plante & Moran’s Chicago office. “The leadership and IT security knowledge Joe brings will be a great benefit to our current and future clients.”
One of the practice’s key focus areas is PCI compliance, where any company that processes, stores or transmits credit card information – retailers, banks, and business vendors – must adhere to strict data control and security standards. While companies have had since 2006 to establish compliance, many have failed to do so and require experienced consultants with a track record of successful execution to help them meet their deadline.
“This range of new regulations is placing considerable demands on companies that are often challenged to meet them. Plante & Moran is familiar with the issues they are facing, and provides them with efficient, customized plans for meeting their compliance needs,” said Oleksak. “We’re pleased to have launched a practice staffed by outstanding professionals here in Chicago, and we anticipate rapid growth in this new practice and a long-term, sustained growth outlook.”
Joe Oleksak is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA). Oleksak has been with Plante & Moran for seven years and holds a bachelor’s of science degree in finance and in management information systems from Marian University.
