Plante & Moran's Theresa Banka Appointed to American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Employee Benefit Plan Expert Panel
SOUTHFIELD, Michigan — Theresa Banka, CPA, the lead technical partner in Plante & Moran’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit practice, was recently appointed to serve as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA’s) Employee Benefit Plans Expert Panel. Her one-year term begins on October 19, 2010.
“This is a great honor and opportunity for the firm which will benefit our clients,” says Theresa. “This appointment provides an opportunity to represent the perspectives of our clients, as the panel interprets and provides guidance on the accounting and auditing standards for benefit plans.”
Plante & Moran audits more than 1,000 benefit plans annually. With clients throughout the United States, Plante & Moran is the sixth largest auditor of benefit plans in the nation. Theresa is responsible for the development of the firm’s employee benefit plan audit approach and oversees the technical group that performs quality control reviews.
Theresa joined Plante & Moran in 1993 and was named partner in 2003. Banka is a member of the AICPA and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. She also served on the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center’s Investment Task Force and the MACPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Task Force.
Banka holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and masters of business administration in financial accounting from Michigan State University.
