Plante & Moran's Mike Swartz Appointed to Michigan State Board of Accountancy

ANN ARBOR, Michigan — Mike Swartz, CPA, and partner at Plante & Moran, PLLC, the nation’s 12th largest certified public accounting and business advisory firm, has been appointed to the Michigan State Board of Accountancy (MSBA) by Governor Granholm. This position was previously held by Plante & Moran Partner Beth Bialy, who is stepping down after completing a two term limit.

During Swartz’s term on the MSBA, he joins eight other board members who oversee the certification and licensure of certified public accountants and public accounting firms.

“I’m pleased to have been appointed to this position and am honored to be able to serve the accounting profession in this manner,” said Swartz. “I think it’s important for Plante & Moran and its staff to volunteer their time and give back to our profession.”

Swartz joined Plante & Moran in 1979 and was named partner in 1992. He specializes in serving governmental and real estate organizations in all areas of audit and tax services.

Swartz is the office managing partner of Plante & Moran’s Ann Arbor office and is also a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Swartz holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.
