Top 10 Not-For-Profit Organizations Advance to Final Round in Blackman Kallick Plante Moran Chicago Community Champions Contest

Third and final round of online voting opens to award $25,000 to one Chicago-area not-for-profit

CHICAGO – Blackman Kallick Plante Moran, the newly-merged sixth largest accounting firm in Chicago, announced the third and final round of online voting opens at 8:00 a.m. CDT today for its Chicago Community Champions donation contest.

The contest started with 91 Chicago-area participating organizations, and after two elimination rounds, only the ten organizations that have received the most votes remain in the contest. Whichever organization receives the most votes in the final round will receive $25,000 for their cause – the same size prize Olympic athletes earn for winning a gold medal by exercising their physical and mental strengths.

The second round of voting accumulated 225,193 votes and elevated the following top 10 not-for-profit organizations to the final round:

  • Great Books Foundation
  • Lumity
  • Erasing the Distance
  • Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School
  • Anderson Animal Shelter
  • Special Olympics Illinois
  • Children's Research Fund (f/k/a Medical Research Institute Council)
  • United Way of Elgin
  • Seguin Services, Inc
  • Center for Economic Progress

The final round of voting will close at noon CDT on August 17. On August 20, the winning organization will be announced. The winner will use the donation to raise visibility for their causes and support the local Chicago community through arts and culture, education, youth development, environment, social services, or community development.

The votes do not accumulate from the previous rounds. The top 10 candidates will start the final round with zero votes. The public is encouraged to vote for the organization of their choice to win by completing an online ballot. The ballot is available at under “Chicago Community Champions.” The website contains brief descriptions of each organization and how they would use the award. The complete list of participating organizations and final standings from the previous two rounds of voting can be accessed on the Plante Moran Facebook page.
