Six Plante Moran school district experts to present seven sessions at 76th annual Michigan School Business Officials conference

Southfield, Mich. – School district experts from Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, will be leading seven sessions at the 76th annual Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) conference May 6-8 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Mich. The annual MSBO conference attracts approximately 1,100 school business professionals from across the state who gather to hear the latest information on the economy, best practices in school districts, school aid, legal issues and products and services.

The three-day conference is comprised of certification classes and pre-conferences on Tuesday, May 6, followed by the conference and exhibit show on May 7 and 8.

On Wednesday, May 7, Eric Formberg, CPA, partner with Plante Moran, will present Auditing and Accounting Update and Paul Wills, CPA, Commercial Real Estate partner with Plante Moran CRESA, will present Enrollment Projections.

On Thursday, May 8, Formberg and Steve Crippen, Michigan Department of Technology, will present MPSERS update including GASB 68 Implementation; Laura Claeys, CPA, partner with Plante Moran, and James M. Crowley and Joseph B. Urban, both of Clark Hill PLC, will present The quest to save fund balance; Chris Geck, associate with Plante Moran, will present Financial Statement Preparation – GASB Rule Changes; Ed Murphy, CEBS, partner with Plante Moran, will present the Affordable Care Act – What does it mean for the business office?; and Jennifer Chambers, associate with Plante Moran, will present Grants Management – What are we supposed to actually do?
