July 5, 2016 Press Release 1 min read

Detroit – Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, has named Douglas Bohrer office managing partner of its Detroit location at One Campus Martius.

Bohrer replaces Dianne Wells, who is retiring after working with Plante Moran for more than 30 years. Wells helped the firm open the Detroit office in 2013 –– which, just this month, increased its space by 13,000 square feet to house a total of more than 100 staff members in over 30,000 square feet.

As office managing partner, Bohrer will work on developing the Detroit staff as well as increasing the firm’s involvement in the community. He will also continue advising manufacturing, distribution and public sector clients throughout Michigan.

Prior to his new role, Doug was an impact team leader in the firm’s largest office in Southfield. He is also the Diversity Council chairman for Plante Moran where he has helped lead multiple initiatives focused on hiring, developing and promoting diverse talent.

“Doug will make a great addition to our Detroit office,” said Bruce Shapiro, group managing partner, Plante Moran. “Doug has a talent for leading people, helping them develop in their careers and showing them how to be exceptional client servers.”

Bohrer has been a partner with Plante Moran for more than 20 years. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Manufactures. He received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Active in the community, Bohrer has served on several not-for-profit boards including the Michigan Minority Development Supplier Council where he’s chairman of the certification committee.
