My brother and I have hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, and we did it all in one day.

Experience

As an audit partner in the financial services group, I primarily work with financial institutions, credit unions, and insurance companies. I have a deep understanding of SEC reporting and regulations, SOX compliance, and internal controls surrounding financial reporting. I also provide risk management services to several clients in the areas of internal control and FDICIA implementation, internal audit testing, information technology, loan review, and regulatory compliance. Besides a positive attitude, I bring my clients over 20 years of experience with tax planning strategies, strategic planning, and merger and acquisition accounting services.

I have a keen ability to relate well with people. This is why I enjoy collaborating with a variety of clients, from presidents and CFOs to board members, as well as those individuals that manage the operations side of institutions. Because of my honesty and business acumen, people at all levels rely on my experience to review processes and controls to ensure their businesses are operating efficiently and effectively.

The collegial atmosphere of Plante Moran is what attracted me to the firm. Ever since I started, I’ve seen colleagues go out of their way to help one another solve challenges and navigate the intricacies of the audit world. As a partner, I’m proud to carry on that tradition and guide other staff with their practice development efforts.

Outside of work, I enjoy decompressing on the basketball court with friends and colleagues as well as with each of my daughters. I love the fact that I can coach both of my daughters in the sport. I also try to find time for golfing and reading.

I’m a frequent presenter to the AICPA, the MICPA, the Michigan Bankers Association, and the Community Bankers of Michigan on accounting updates, strategic planning, and business transaction services. I’m also a member of the AICPA and the MICPA, and I’m the past chair of the Financial Institutions Task Force of the MICPA. I graduated from Wayne State University with a B.S. in accounting.
