When I was in college in the 90s, I met Pope John Paul II while participating in a study abroad program. Because my friend had some connections within the Vatican, we were invited to an audience with the pope following a private mass.

Experience

With my practical approach to accounting and tax matters, I specialize in serving owner-managed and private equity-owned clients in the middle market. My clients in the business services and technology space appreciate that I identify potential roadblocks and work with them to achieve their goals. I have experience helping owners and management teams with business acquisitions and sales, issuing share-based compensation awards, and recognizing revenue for complex arrangements.

Around the office I’m known for staff development. I strive to set staff up for success with engagements that challenge and enrich their professional experience. I also like to think I can challenge them on the soccer field. Although, however great it is to spend time with some of our younger staff outside of work, they seem to run circles around me.

I’m probably one of the rare auditors with a biology major, earned as an undergraduate at Kalamazoo College. My master’s degree in accounting is from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. I belong to the AICPA and the Michigan Association of CPAs, and I serve as a trustee and treasurer for the Foundation for Saline Area Schools.

When I’m not preparing or consulting on financial statements, I’m happiest spending time on the lake with my family, following Detroit and University of Michigan sports, and playing soccer.
