Raj is the partner in charge of Plante Moran’s information security consulting practice. Known for his practical approach to managing information security risks, Raj understands the challenges inherent in information technology and assists clients in managing risks pertaining to confidentiality, availability, and the integrity of information assets. He also helps organizations comply with the various information security and privacy regulations.
Raj has more than 20 years of information security and IT audit experience working with a range of organizations, from large global entities to small, single-location entities. Most recently, his focus has been on advising clients on various security and privacy compliance requirements and security mechanisms and processes for emerging technologies such as cloud computing, social media, mobile applications, and collaboration tools like Microsoft SharePoint.
Areas of focus include: information security risk assessments, information technology audits (including general technology controls), network security assessments/penetration testing, business continuity planning, application controls (including ERP systems and web application security), SOC/SSAE16 Examinations, privacy audits (GLBA & HIPAA/HITECH), and standards and compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI-DSS).
Raj was awarded the “40 under 40” award in 2009 and "American Dreamers" award in 2007 by Crain’s Detroit Business in recognition of his professional accomplishments. He’s often asked to speak to clients, their boards, and at national and regional industry conferences such as the Independent Community Bankers Association and the Information Systems Audit & Control Association on information security-related topics. Raj is frequently quoted in national and regional periodicals as an expert on technology and information security topics. He has a B.S. in accounting from University of Missouri—St. Louis and an ACCA from Emile Woolf in London, UK.
