This assessment tool is the first step you need perform in order to document your compliance with the HIPAA Security Standards.

HIPAA requires healthcare providers, health plans and clearinghouses/billing agencies to regularly review and update the effectiveness of administrative, physical and technical safeguards. As threats to electronic data become more complex, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will look at the updated risk assessment, security program, business associate assessment, and technology assessment to determine an organization's dedication to safeguarding electronic PHI.
