CMS has been busy updating and clarifying the Interpretive Guidelines to the nursing home surveyors. The revisions have included updates to the Traditional Survey Protocol and the Exhibits (Survey Forms 672, 802, 802S and 802P). In addition, revisions are in place for F322 – Feeding Tubes; F155 – Advance Directives; F309 – Quality of Care for End of Life; and clarifications related to Medication Errors and Pharmacy Services. There are no regulatory language changes, but keep up-to-date with what the surveyors will now be expecting and using to determine the facility’s compliance with the regulations. Get the high points and be ready for your next survey!
