Integrated Health Systems: Achieving Profitability While Managing Population Health

  • Presenter:
    Anthony Colarossi, Plante Moran

Regardless of the legal or political outcome of the Accountable Care Act, healthcare delivery and financing in America will look drastically different in 5, 10 and 20 years. This presentation will make some insightful observations, draw provocative conclusions and even go out on a limb to make predictions that may surprise the audience. And it will all be wrapped up with tangible recommended strategies to prepare for the new world order in healthcare.

SAS 70 to SSAE 16: What Companies Need To Know

  • Session Leader
    Raj Patel, Plante Moran
  • Panel Member
Sharon Gipson, Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan

The AICPA has updated the SAS 70 standards for service organizations. Insurance companies must demonstrate that they can ensure the security, availability, and processing integrity of their systems and, in some cases, the confidentiality and privacy of the information the systems process. How can service providers give, and users get, the assurances they need? Under the new standards, there are three options available. This presentation will explain the differences so that you can select the best option for your organization.

Take Charge of Your Organization's Future

  • Session Leader
    Jeffery Dertz, Plante Moran
  • Panel Members
    William Hermann, Plante Moran
Laura Czelada, Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana

The "war for talent" is back from its forced sabbatical. As the economy continues to strengthen, staff attraction, retention, growth, and planning for the long-term viability of organizations have become increasingly critical. This presentation will focus on assisting companies within the insurance industry in creating alignment, communicating direction and expectations, and assisting staff in developing the skills to help organizations grow and be prepared for the opportunities ahead.

P & C Tax Update - Back to the Future or Paradise Lost

  • Session Leader
    Margarete Chalker, Plante Moran
  • Panel Members
    Doug Youngren, Plante Moran
    Bailey Maennner, Plante Moran

The presentation will include a discussion of major tax law changes and the implications for the property and casualty industry. The presenters will also summarize other changes affecting P&C insurance companies, including tax accounting changes for both GAAP and Statutory accounting, and any changes affecting state income, premium, and retaliatory taxes.
