The Great Recession and decreased property values have put enormous stress on the finances of local governments and there is no sign of a rebound. As a result most have responded with short-term cost cutting, some have instituted efficiencies, but these efforts are not going to be enough. Local leaders are going to have to redefine the role of government. During this session, Tim Morales, Assistant City Manager for Fiscal Services (Saginaw, Michigan), will discuss how his city created a blueprint for transformation. Plante & Moran government consultants will join him to talk about the tools available for leaders as they begin making tough decisions.
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe their understanding of the current economic situation relative to government organizations and the need to redefine the role of government
- Identify the benefits of a holistic approach to reorganizing government entities
- Apply strategies from best practices, benchmarking data, and case studies
