Carhartt Headquarters

The challenge

Carhartt enjoyed steady growth but was experiencing costly inefficiencies in space utilization and was unsure how to accommodate future needs.

The solution

Carhartt engaged Plante Moran Cresa (PMC) to develop a long-term real estate strategy that would address rent obligations and deliver a new headquarters aligned to its corporate image and future business plans. Comprehensive facility options were evaluated, including lease, buy, and build alternatives.

With operational and capital costs compared across all options, Carhartt decided to build a new headquarters.

The benefit

PMC assisted in site selection and acquisition of land as well as provided project management services for the construction of the new $12 million headquarters. At 60,000 square feet, the new building will allow for future expansion. Our project management team was later engaged to renovate the space to represent a more collaborative workplace initiative for staff.

Most recently, PMC assisted in the acquisition of two new buildings for Carhartt. Both buildings, one at 68,000 SF and one at 70,000 SF, are next door to the headquarters.
