Delta Dental expands HQ to meet LEED-certified Silver standards

The challenge

Headquartered in Okemos, Michigan, Delta Dental of Michigan is one of the largest dental plan administrators in the nation. To keep up with its growth and prepare for the future, Delta Dental embarked upon a large-scale project to expand and update its 160,000-square-foot headquarters.

The solution

Plante Moran Cresa (PMC) was engaged to provide comprehensive program management/monitoring services for Delta Dental’s $100 million program to expand and renovate its headquarters. The project included a 35,000-square-foot addition, a 90,000-square foot-office building, and a 20,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art data center.

The company also planned to revitalize and renovate its 57-acre campus with walking trails, a natural habitat, and an ecologically protective stormwater management system.

The benefit

PMC worked closely with the construction manager, Walbridge, and the architect, Albert Kahn, to keep the project on schedule and on budget. Through value engineering and diligent change order review, PMC helped save Delta Dental more than $4 million on the project.

PMC also facilitated the procurement of office fixtures and equipment compliant with LEED standards and provided comprehensive move management services for Delta Dental.
