  • 3:00 – 3:35 PM – Keynote address with Kelly Brough
    • Kelly Brough has deep experience understanding Colorado’s economy and workforce needs through the many leadership positions she’s held. In her keynote address, she will provide insight on our country’s history and what we can expect in the future.
  • 3:35 – 4:45 PM – Learn from Leaders panel
    • Led by Plante Moran’s Managing-Partner-Elect, Jason Drake, panelists will share insights and their perspective on building an organization that endures. The panel will explore the importance of company culture, succession planning, DEI, and more.

Get to know our speakers

Keynote speaker

  • Kelly Brough, vice president of strategic partnerships, Colorado Mesa University
    • As the first woman to serve as president and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Kelly has an extensive history in the Denver community. Kelly has served on number of non-profit boards, the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and has served on numerous community boards, including Habitat for Humanity for Metro Denver (chair, vice-chair, and chair of the policy committee), The Denver Zoo, and Colorado Mesa University board of trustees.
    • Since 2021, Kelly has served on the board for Haselden Construction, a privately owned construction company with almost $500 million in annual revenue working primarily in the K-12 school system, higher education, healthcare, and multi-family and office construction.

Learn from Leaders panelists

  • Dr. Jandel T Allen-Davis, MD, president & CEO, Craig Hospital
    • Dr. Jandel T. Allen-Davis is a highly accomplished physician with 37 years of experience. For over two decades, she has provided obstetrics and gynecology care to families and patients. Dr. Allen-Davis is also a passionate advocate for affordable, patient-centered quality healthcare and has held various leadership positions throughout her career. 
    • Currently, Dr. Allen-Davis proudly serves as the president and CEO of Craig Hospital, a world-renowned rehabilitation hospital dedicated exclusively to neurorehabilitation and research for patients with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injuries. 
    • Previously, she served as the vice president for government and external relations, where she worked alongside sales and marketing and was directly responsible for integrated communications and brand management, direct community benefit investment, local government relations, stakeholder engagement, and Craig's Institute for Health Research.
  • Kurt Klanderud, CEO, GH Phipps
    • Kurt Klanderud is a seasoned executive with an extensive background in the construction industry. He held various positions, such as vice president, director, chief estimator, and preconstruction services, before becoming the president and CEO of GH Phipps Construction Companies from 2012 to 2022.
    • Kurt is also actively involved in various industry organizations. He previously served as the president of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado and currently co-chairs the AGC of CO DC-3 Diversity Culture of Care Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC Board of Governors, the Castle Rock EDC Executive Committee, and the Metro Denver Economic Development Council Executive Committee and is currently the chair of the GH Phipps Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
  • Jason Drake – Moderator
    • On July 1, 2024, Jason Drake will become managing partner of Plante Moran, one of the largest accounting firms in the United States providing audit, tax, consulting, and wealth management services. He graduated with honors from Michigan State University in 2000 and joined Plante Moran through an internship in 1999. Since then, he has been instrumental in taking the firm to new heights of success. In 2015, Crain's Detroit Business named him a "40 Under 40" recipient for increasing Plante Moran's international business revenue by 400%. In 2021, he was appointed as the group managing partner of offices for Chicagoland, Ohio, and the firm's international locations, joining the firm's management team. In November 2023, he was elected as Plante Moran's managing partner to lead the firm's growth, investments in people and technology, and maintaining the firm's culture and dedication to client service. Drake is only the eighth managing partner in the firm's 100-year history.
