A different way to manage your benefits: Five roundtable sessions

Plante Moran Group Benefit Advisors is teaming up with experts across the healthcare benefits industry to show you a different way to manage your benefits. Join us for this five-week program where you’ll hear directly from experts and get your questions answered.

October 14, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT: Managing healthcare costs through a group captive with Justin Cifra of Pareto Health

Fully insured medical plans include high taxes and insurance carrier profits, while providing employers with very little control or actionable data. Self-insured medical plans offer reduced costs, improved cash flow, actionable data, and employer control — but they may expose employers to significant year-over-year volatility. In this session, learn how a group captive reduces year-over-year volatility and provides turnkey cost containment solutions otherwise unattainable for mid-market employers.

October 21, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT: Highly customized, cost-effective plan administration with Troy Duimstra of Meritain Health

A highly customizable, cost-effective third-party administrator (TPA) is the foundation of affordable healthcare that’s easy for employees to access and use. Meritain Health offers an industry-leading, flexible system platform that allows for the integration of many best-in-class partners at an affordable cost. Troy will explain critical features of best-in-class TPA operations and illustrate how you can customize your structure to address your specific benefit needs.

October 28, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT: Pharmacy benefit management with Kiley Ward of Magellan Rx Management

Pharmaceutical drug costs are skyrocketing at an unstainable pace and, too often, pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) contracts are poorly constructed. Magellan Rx Management gives employers the flexibility to choose plan design while ensuring access to a PBM contract that’s been expertly negotiated, is free of hidden fees and pitfalls, and is administered through strict performance guarantees. Kiley will unlock many of the “hidden secrets” of PBM contracting and illustrate how being attentive to those items can significantly reduce prescription costs without unnecessary access or formulary restrictions.

November 4, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EST: Member advocacy and navigation with Ryan Whiteleather of Quantum Health

To help employees and their covered family members navigate the complex healthcare system, an advocate must meet them at the point of need. During this session, we’ll discuss the role of proactive member engagement in a high performing health plan. Learn how helping to steer members to high-quality and low-cost providers and appropriate treatment yields better short-term and long-term cost results while also improving overall satisfaction among plan participants. Lastly, see how integrating cost-savings initiatives into the operations of a plan yields better results than basic communication campaigns.

November 11, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EST: Point solutions with Nicole Brantner of KISx Card and Dr. Phil Hellman of Paradox Health

After establishing the core components of a health plan, employers can begin to implement point solutions to improve overall benefits while also reducing healthcare costs. We’ll discuss implementing specialty networks that lower overall plan costs while also giving plan participants the option to eliminate their out-of-pocket costs on schedulable procedures like surgeries, complex imaging, and lab work. We’ll also address how high value primary care is replacing transactional primary care to drive better health, and lower costs, for employers.
