DSM Engineering Plastics Americas HQ moves to Troy, MI; Plante Moran Cresa facilitates
DSM Engineering Plastics (DSM EP), a business group of the global science-based company Royal DSM and a global supplier of high-performance engineering thermoplastic solutions, moved its Americas headquarters into 31,000 square feet of industrial space in Troy, Michigan. Plante Moran Cresa (PMC) aided DSM EP in the site selection, lease negotiation, and space planning.
DSM EP approached Plante Moran Cresa in 2014 to help find a new facility large enough, and flexible enough, to house the company’s headquarters, customer service center, and technical center. Partner Brandon Podolski and Senior Consultant Brandon Haddock on PMC’s transaction management team lead the search.
After a thorough analysis of the available options PMC identified, DSM chose the Columbia Center IV, a 31,000-square-foot, Class A building in Troy, Michigan. Located just off of I-75 and close to a variety of amenities, the building had plenty of parking and prominent signage that faced the freeway. The first floor, originally a fitness center, was readily converted into the high-tech lab and workspace for DSM’s technology center and headquarters. The garage was built out into the customer service center.
PMC helped DSM EP negotiate the long-term lease with the landlord, Kirco Management Services, and the landlord’s broker, Signature Associates. Built-out with sustainable design elements, DSM EP’s new space is a modern, aesthetically pleasing work environment perfect for both attracting new talent and encouraging productivity. DSM moved into the new space the second week of January 2016.
