Leadership transitions are among the many things to be thankful for this year as incoming managing partner Jim Proppe takes the reins with a strong vision for the firm.

Believe it or not, next week is Thanksgiving, and I have an awful lot to be thankful for this year. Of course there’s my family: my wife, kids, and growing list of grandkids (the count is up to three now). The holiday just wouldn’t be complete without them.

In addition to my family, I find myself thinking a lot about the good fortune I’ve found at Plante Moran. Here at the firm, we get to do something good and honorable in a place where people genuinely care about each other, and I’m thankful for that every day. I’m thankful for my incredible mentors who gave me opportunities to lead, and I’m thankful for our commitment to leadership transitions.

Here at the firm, we get to do something good and honorable in a place where people genuinely care about each other, and I’m thankful for that every day.

As you might have heard, on July 1, I’ll turn over the position of Plante Moran’s managing partner to Jim Proppe. Jim will be the seventh managing partner in the firm’s 92-year history. I have no doubt that Jim will be exceptional as our next leader. He’s a strategic and logical thinker and great businessman. He has an incredible vision for the firm and a really big heart — he’s going to be a great protector of our culture. I’m thankful and excited to see how the firm will continue to grow under new leadership — and that I’ll have an opportunity to continue to help with that growth after Jim takes office.

As you can see, I have a lot to reflect on this year, especially the incredible Plante Moran team I’ve had the opportunity to lead for the last eight years and our firm’s exciting future.

So how about you? What are you thankful for this year?
