Plante Moran named to FORTUNE’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For®” 17 years in a row

March 5, 2015 Press Release 2 min read

Southfield, Mich. – Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, has been named to FORTUNE Magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies to Work For” for the 17th consecutive year.

The full list, which was announced today, ranks Plante Moran #29 and will appear in the March 15 issue of FORTUNE Magazine (www.fortune.com). Plante Moran has been named to the prestigious list each year it has applied.

With offices throughout Michigan, Illinois and Ohio, and in Mexico, China and India, Plante Moran remains a leader in attracting and retaining staff in the competitive professional services arena through progressive workplace programs and time-tested approaches.

“From its inception, Plante Moran has drawn the connection between exceptional client service and providing a caring and encouraging work environment,” said Gordon Krater, Plante Moran’s managing partner. “Our culture of mutual respect, trust, open communication and transparency results in lower staff turnover and deeper, more strategic relationships between staff and clients.”

Since 1999, the year Plante Moran first appeared on the FORTUNE list, the firm has tripled in revenue and doubled its number of staff. It’s also expanded from 17 offices to 23, including three international locations.

“It’s no coincidence that for the last 17 years the firm has experienced growth and success while remaining a mainstay on the FORTUNE list,” Krater adds. “The firm’s accomplishments are borne of a culture instilled decades ago by its co-founder, Frank Moran.

“Frank was looking to create something more than year-to-year success; he was looking to create a sustainable organization. And the foundation of a sustainable organization? A great culture.”

Plante Moran has a 90-year tradition of being “relatively jerk-free” and of caring about its clients, staff and community. It’s built on foundational principles such as:

  • One-firm firm, a “we’re all in this together philosophy” eliminating competing office-level profit centers. As a result, clients get access to the best resources, regardless of geography
  • Optimizing vs. maximizing, putting people and a long-term view before profits
  • Doing the right thing for the right reasons
