"Relatively jerk-free" for more than 17 years

How do you consistently earn your way onto Fortune Magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For?" Well...St. Joe's Kenley Penner and his colleagues might suggest you keep your work place, "relatively jerk-free!"

How cool is that? A "No Jerk Zone!" Mr. Penner is a Certified Public Accountant and Partner with the accounting firm of Plante Moran, which is based in Southfield, but has had a presence in Michigan's Great Southwest for decades. His team in the Edgewater neighborhood on the north side of the St. Joe River has long espoused the "We're all in this together philosophy" that permeates the Plante Moran family despite the fact that they are one of the nation's largest certified public accounting and business advocacy firms going.

To have such a "one-firm" culture in spite of a work force of more than 2,000 professionals spread across 23 offices in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio (not to mention their international offices in Shanghai, China; Monterrey, Mexico; and Mumbai, India) is somewhat miraculous.
