PMFA tops Accounting Today’s AUM ranking. The Michigan firm also tops ranking lists in Barron’s, Forbes and Financial Advisor

Southfield, Mich. – Plante Moran Financial Advisors, the registered investment advisor affiliate of public accounting and advisory firm Plante Moran, was recently ranked as the largest CPA firm by assets under management in Accounting Today.

PMFA is a part of the “Billion Dollar Club” on the publication’s annual rankings, now in its ninth year. Over 200 firms, who come from a broad spectrum of practice structures, submitted applications to be included on the list. PMFA is one of only five Michigan firms on the list of 125.

AUM executives also offered commentary on the use of technology in their practice in the report. John Lesser, PMFA president, cited the balance of using technology while maintaining personal relationships as a major goal of the firm.

“It’s an honor to be a part of Accounting Today’s annual ranking,” Lesser said. “Our success is largely in part to our model of having both accounting and financial planning services under one roof. Essentially, we bring a full team to each of our clients and are able to act as their personal CFO.”

In addition to the recent Accounting Today ranking, PMFA has received a number of national awards over the past several months:

• PMFA was ranked eighth on Forbes list of top 100 wealth management firms. The report commentary cited the firm’s unique ability to offer clients a suite of services, along with its Midwestern charm.
• PMFA took the 11th spot of the 562 firms listed on Financial Advisor’s list of top Registered Investment Advisors.
• PMFA President John Lesser was named to the Barron’s 100 top financial advisors list. This ranking not only took into account the revenues generated for the firm but also the quality of the advisor’s practices.
