Chicago, Illinois – Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, has received a Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois.
The award, which recognizes Plante Moran in the category of companies with 1,000-7,499 employees, was designed to promote the importance of ethical business practices, along with the willingness and efforts made by outstanding organizations to ensure a fair and honorable marketplace.
“Our ongoing commitment to our clients and staff has helped Plante Moran build a reputation based on quality and integrity,” explains Tom Kinder, Plante Moran’s Chicago office managing partner. “We strive to create an environment that our partners and staff enjoy. As a result, our clients are served by people who love what they do, where they do it, and who they do it with. As our clients will tell you, that makes all the difference.”
Candidates for the Torch Award were evaluated by an independent panel of judges from the business and academic community. Award criteria focused on the candidate’s ethical standards, behaviors, practices and reputation.
“Companies receiving the Torch Award have distinguished themselves as businesses that operate in an ethical manner,” said Steve J. Bernas, president and CEO of the BBB of Chicago and Northern Illinois. “They know the importance of their customers, employees, community members and other stakeholders to their business’ success. This is at the heart of why the BBB conducts the Torch Award program. We want to encourage businesses to do their best because it benefits everyone.”
Plante Moran and other 2016 Torch Award recipients were honored at a luncheon ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Loews Chicago in Rosemont. This is the 18th year the BBB of Chicago and Northern Illinois has presented the Torch Award.
