Experience

As a senior vice president with Plante Moran Realpoint (PMR), formerly Plante Moran REIA, Jake leverages ten years of commercial real estate experience to provide clients with in-depth analysis for highly complex projects. He specializes in real estate development advisory and economic development incentives, providing services such as real estate underwriting and development finance management, as well as investment and incentive structuring.

Real estate is an excellent crossroads for investment and tangible projects that impact people’s day-to-day lives. Clients rely on Jake’s ability to articulate complex financial concepts and incentive structures in a simple and concise manner, enabling them to make the best possible decisions and achieve their goals.

Since joining the firm, Jake has helped his clients secure over $1 billion in various economic development incentives, including helping to establish Ford Motor Company's Renaissance Zone for the rehabilitation of Michigan Central Station and serving as incentives lead on Olympia Development & Related Companies $1.5 billion planned investment in the District Detroit and the associated Transformational Brownfield Program approval. Jake has extensive experience working with federal, state, and local programs such as historic tax credits, low-income housing tax credits, tax increment financing ("TIF") programs such as Brownfield TIF, Corridor Improvement Authorities, Downtown Development Authorities, and the Transformational Brownfield Program, as well as other property tax abatement programs.

Jake joined the firm from Greatwater Opportunity Capital, a private equity real estate developer focused on multifamily rehabilitations in Detroit’s neighborhoods. There he managed the acquisition, investment, and predevelopment processes on 19 multifamily properties across nine investment funds, totaling over 850 units acquired and $100 million in capital deployed.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad School of Business. As a four-year member and two-year captain of Michigan State’s varsity swimming and diving team, Jake was awarded various athletic and academic honors.
