Tom is Plante Moran’s Northern Michigan Tax Director. He specializes in providing complex tax solutions to businesses and individuals in Northern and Western Michigan while leading our tax staff in the Traverse City office. 

Tom is known for staying on the cutting edge of federal and state tax matters and excels in providing creative planning and solutions in complex business and individual situations. He has more than 30 years of accounting and tax experience in industries such as manufacturing and distribution, energy, service, and real estate development. He also serves high net worth individuals.

Most recently, Tom has been involved in a number of business sales, including structuring related to maximizing seller value while mitigating the related tax effects. Tom is often asked to speak and write articles on tax-related topics and is often sought after by the media for commentary on current tax topics. He has a B.A. in accounting from Northwood University and has completed post-graduate studies in federal taxation through the University of Illinois and New York University.
