I love to cook! I often research recipes to duplicate interesting restaurant dishes, then find ways to improve upon and make them my own.

Experience

I specialize in risk management advisory services for public sector organizations and publicly traded companies operating with a large international footprint. I’m passionate about delivering value to our clients through creative problem-solving and leveraging Plante Moran’s deep risk expertise. To that end, I work with our clients to deliver guidance, expertise, and innovative solutions in enterprise risk management, as well as internal control design, implementation, monitoring, and process improvement.

Colleagues know me as the one pushing the envelope on our use of technology in our service delivery. I enthusiastically evangelize how to think differently to approach problem-solving, and I challenge team members to break out of a mindset of “that’s how we’ve always done it.”

With more than 15 years of experience, I’m particularly proud of balancing a rewarding but demanding career with family life at home as both a husband and father to two wonderfully energetic children. My family life is as dynamic as my career, and every week brings new challenges and opportunities.

In 2023, I was appointed to the Comptroller General’s Advisory Council on Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government. In this role, I will help revise and update the “Green Book,” which sets the standards for effective internal controls for federal agencies.

I’m often asked to speak with trade associations and industry groups on matters of enterprise risk management and internal control. I belong to the AICPA, the MICPA, and the Institute of Internal Auditors. I received my B.B.A. in finance from Grand Valley State University and my M.B.A. from Walsh College
