Today’s tax landscape can be challenging, especially for insurers. As the leader of the firm’s insurance tax practice, I help my clients comply with legal and regulatory requirements while minimizing their income tax liabilities. My practice focuses on the taxation of health, property and casualty, and captive insurance companies as well as associated entities such as holding companies, agencies, service corporations, and other businesses that support the industry.
Clients appreciate the fact that I can explain complex tax issues in an understandable way, be positive and responsive, and provide exceptional service. My door is always open if a client or staff member has a question. If I can’t answer it immediately, I have the ability and confidence to find the person who can. I love being able to help clients as well as other CPAs reach their goals. I value being an integral part of the insurance practice and helping my team — and my clients — succeed.
I'm a member of the AICPA, including its tax division, and the Michigan Association of CPAs. I also sit on the Board of Directors for the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA) and have been a national volunteer in various capacities with the IASA since 2010. I’ve spoken on tax-related topics at the IASA’s Michigan chapter meetings and at the annual national conference. I have a B.A. in philosophy from Michigan State University and a M.St. in taxation from Grand Valley State University.
When I’m not in the office, I love being outdoors with my friends and family — especially my fabulous daughter! I am blessed to have a place in Indian River where I spend a lot of time, particularly in the summer. I love to mountain bike, run, and boat. I’m also an avid Spartans fan and longtime basketball season ticketholder.
