I still answer to my childhood nickname. My dad started calling me “Tiger” when I was a baby, and the moniker has stuck ever since.

Experience

As firmwide tax director, I have the privilege of providing the leadership that fuels the growth and success of Plante Moran’s tax practice. I oversee all tax-related facets of the firm, from compliance to planning to strategy. Along with the other tax partners, I’m responsible for providing technical advice and functional support for all staff members.

I started working with Plante Moran in 1991, and I still remember what excited me about the firm— our core values: the guiding philosophies, the “We Care” motto, and the encouragement of work-life balance. Because of these principles, I’ve been able to advance the esteem of our tax practice as well as coach all five of my children in basketball at some point as they’ve grown up.

I’m probably the most seasoned member of my office. This affords me the honor of serving as a sounding board where staff can discuss tax ideas, plan ways to continually meet clients’ needs, yet also figure out how to make it to their kid’s events. Staff members know me as someone who will help them achieve their goals. Clients know me as someone who provides value-added services and understands their business. I’m proud of how I’ve broadened the reputation of Plante Moran in the Grand Rapids marketplace, provided guidance to the tax department, and attracted new clients to the firm.

I’m a member of the AICPA, the Michigan Association of CPAs, and the Praxity North American Tax Directors Working Group. A few years ago, I was one of the featured speakers at the Praxity UK Regional conference. I also frequently present to internal groups on technical tax topics.

I have a B.S. in accounting and business administration from Aquinas College.
