I specialize in internationally active manufacturing and distribution companies. I’ve been in the tax industry a long time, and am known for being “fluent in international tax.” I assist clients with the tax challenges that accompany international activities, including structuring, foreign tax credit planning, and ASC740. I’ve advised clients on captive insurance company planning and IRS controversies.
My four decades of industry experience span time at a Big Four firm and at a large multinational company — and nearly 20 years with Plante Moran. I’m extremely proud to have been a founding member of the National Tax Office, which continuously monitors tax legislation, developing trends, and the international tax practice.
I’ve been a speaker at the Praxity International Tax Conference since the conference’s formation. Locally, I’ve spoken at the MICPA West Michigan Tax Symposium on tax reform and corporate tax updates. I also participate in national webinars on topics like IC-DISCs, captive insurance companies, and structuring for internationally active companies.
I’m a member of the AICPA and the MICPA, as well as a board member on the West Michigan chapter of the MSU Club. I received a B.A. from Michigan State University, my M.S.T. from Grand Valley State University, and an M.M. from Aquinas College.
I’m a passionate MSU Spartan fan, and I enjoy attending football and basketball games. My wife, Pam, and I enjoy ballroom dancing. We also enjoy spending time with our blended family of nine kids.
