My favorite hobby is amateur coin collecting. I attend local coins shows and study the history of U.S. coins.

Experience

I provide audit and consulting services to governments, higher education institutions, and not-for-profit entities. I specialize in statewide audits, and audits of cities, counties, and townships, as well as special purpose governments, including transit agencies. My expertise includes leading teams through risk management, compliance, accounting, financial reporting, audits, information technology, and business process re-engineering projects.

Because of my previous experience as a government employee, I strive to make the client experience informative and enjoyable. It helps that I can relate to the challenges they face every day as a public servant. I love serving governments and other public sector entities because they’re always involved in meaningful activities that directly benefit the communities in which they operate.

I’m often asked to speak to clients, their boards, and at industry conferences about a variety of topics affecting public sector entities, including not only accounting and auditing but also operational and planning as well. I’m a member of the AICPA, the Michigan Association of CPAs, the Illinois CPA Society, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Michigan and Illinois chapters of the GFOA, and the Association of Government Accountants. I belong to the board, and I’m the chair of the audit committee for the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition. I received my B.S. in accounting from the University of Detroit.

I like to spend time with my wife and two kids in our pool and on the Great Lakes. I coached soccer for over 15 years and enjoy watching my kids play sports.
