I also provide due diligence consulting services to insurance companies looking to expand through acquisition or merger opportunities. My experience includes statutory reporting, NAIC Model Audit Rule compliance, and financial due diligence. I also oversee the team working to meet various client deadlines and regulatory reporting requirements that insurance companies must comply with.
While the work is often demanding, I’m known for my organizational and people skills that help me complete engagements on time. I’m fortunate to have a great team working with me, and I believe that’s because they know I genuinely care about serving clients in the insurance industry and their professional development.
In the more than 30 years I’ve been with Plante Moran, one of my biggest accomplishments is my personal growth as an expert in the insurance industry as well as the growth of our insurance practice. I began serving a variety of public entity risk pools, concentrating in insurance, and ultimately developing our insurance practice within the financial services group. I’ve been instrumental in recruiting skilled staff and partners, which has fueled our growth over the past 10-plus years. With our energized insurance leadership team, we’re recognized as one of the fastest-growing areas within the firm.
I'm often asked to speak to corporate governance on a variety of topics, including financial responsibility, auditing and accounting standards, and statutory reporting. I regularly provide accounting and statutory updates at the annual Chief Financial Officers Conference of the Delta Dental Plans Association.
I belong to the AICPA, the Michigan Association of CPAs, the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association, and the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. I received my accounting degree from Michigan State University.
