日本の最高峰である富士山に8回登頂しました。初めて登ったのは15歳のときでした。その後、米国学生宣教グループ向けの山岳ガイドとなり、登山に随行しました。

Experience

As Plante Moran’s Japanese business services leader, 100 percent of my time is dedicated to Japanese-owned companies doing business outside Japan, primarily in the United States and Mexico. I assist with assurance services (financial statement audits, reviews, and J-SOX compliance) and management consulting services.

I like to think that my background — I’ve lived nearly half of my life in Japan and the other half in the United States— enables me to be my Japanese clients’ advocate to have successful business endeavors outside of their home country as they cope with different languages and business cultures. I know the nuances of the Japanese business culture. If I can’t help with a particular issue, then I won’t rest until I find someone who can, whether that person is on my team or external.

I’m often invited to client meetings and seminars for the Japanese business community where I cover everything from IT trends, global governance, and fraud prevention. I received a degree in economics from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo.

Outside of work, I look for opportunities to travel with my wife. I’m also involved in a male and a mixed-voice choir that keeps me busy with practice nights and concerts.
