A Plante Moran audit partner, Mike specializes in providing audit, financial management, and consulting services to the manufacturing and distribution, private equity, and not-for-profit sectors. Known for ability to translate the requirements of FASB rules, SEC regulations, GASB rules, and IFRS in to language that’s actionable for his clients, Mike has more than 20 years of public accounting experience and six years in industry with a West Michigan automotive supplier. He is a member of Plante Moran's private equity, manufacturing and distribution, food industry, not-for-profit, and employee benefit plan practice groups.
Serving middle-market clients in both the public and private sector, Mike has actively been engaged in assisting private equity groups with financial due diligence to enable successful acquisitions. He also advises clients on industry issues and changes and application of accounting rules and regulations, keeping clients abreast of tax matters specific to their businesses. Mike has presented at a number of firm and industry events, including the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants on variable interest entities and an annual update seminar for clients on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Mike was recognized as one of Western Michigan’s “Business Leaders Under 40” in 2004 by Business Direct Weekly. He has a B.B.A. in accounting from Grand Valley State University.
