A longtime partner with the firm, I’m happy to be a champion of Plante Moran to clients and prospects. For many years, I was the manufacturing and distribution practice leader, where I oversaw more than 350 professionals.
With a career spanning nearly four decades and two states — I’ve been instrumental in integrating three different firms into the Plante Moran family — I’ve had the opportunity to reinvent myself many times, which has kept my career interesting. It’s also laid the foundation for what enforces my long-term vision. As someone who’s seen tremendous firm growth firsthand and economic ups and downs that deeply affected our clients, I know the importance of taking the long view — and my clients appreciate this. I’ve counseled companies that have restructured themselves in a variety of ways and others that have grown in size, profits, and across countries. Only experience can buy you that kind of foresight and objectivity.
As a previous office managing partner for three different offices, I know some people need to be nudged and others need to be pushed out of their comfort zones, but that’s ultimately how they grow. The chance to do something new is how staff are propelled to their highest and best use. When they find where that is — that’s a win for them and the firm.
I’m a member of the AICPA, the Illinois CPA Society, and the MICPA, and I’m active on the finance committee of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
