Experience

As a principal in our cybersecurity group, I advise clients on cybersecurity controls for both internal and external threats to their IT environment. My expertise is within the System and Organization Controls (SOC) practice, where I assist our clients in understanding which SOC requirements are most relevant and whether their control structure meets those requirements.

In addition to SOC readiness assessments and examinations, I also have experience in performing IT risk assessments, IT audits, application security controls reviews, and security and privacy assessments (GLBA, HIPAA/HITECH). Most of my clients are in the technology, service, insurance, finance, and healthcare industries.

I’ve always had an interest in computers and technology. Being able to use those skills and interests to learn about an organization’s cybersecurity needs makes my job exciting and ever-evolving. My clients value the time our team takes to understand each unique system, so they can be confident in our abilities to help them reach their IT and cybersecurity goals.

Colleagues know me to be a great listener and staff developer — their success is my success and vice versa. One of my favorite philosophies at Plante Moran is “the whole person comes to work.” Meaning, staff bring their outside challenges and concerns with them to work each day. It’s important our team maintains a healthy work-life balance without compromising client service; I strive to help my colleagues navigate their own work-life responsibilities whenever I can.

I was one of the first campus hires in Plante Moran’s cybersecurity group, and I’ve seen our team grow and develop significantly. I’m proud to have played an active role in developing a thriving cybersecurity practice and establishing a great development program for new team members.

With more than 15 years of cybersecurity experience working in various areas in technology consulting, I’ve written white papers and articles on cybersecurity-related topics and often speak to clients and their boards, as well as at industry conferences on industry threats and trends. I’m a member of the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). I received my B.S. in management information systems from Oakland University and my M.B.A. from Walsh College.

When I’m not helping clients, I enjoy spending time and traveling with my husband and three children. I’m also involved with our kids’ extracurricular activities such as soccer and gymnastics.
