Headshot of Randy Strandberg

I write creative softball game summaries (only wins, no need to relive losses!) to humor my teammates. I also write poetry for special occasions for friends and family members.

I provide tax advisory services for entities operating in the energy sector. My principal energy clients include private equity-funded and publicly held upstream and midstream oil and gas companies. I specialize in a wide variety of corporate and partnership oil and gas income tax issues throughout the life cycle of companies, from startup through liquidity events, including incentive unit and waterfall applications, design and implementation of taxable and tax-free asset and entity purchases, entity and asset sales and exchanges, and IPO readiness.

I have over 40 years of experience and am proud to be a part of a team responsible for creating and maintaining an energy brand recognized in the marketplace. Serving A-list clients allows us to work with the best private equity and legal firms in the country, as well as experience and be part of state-of-the-art transactions. I’m passionate about all things team-oriented and am a faithful believer in the synergies and sustainability of well-run teams.

I'm a past comptroller of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of America, past president and treasurer of Project PAVE, past president of a local swim club, and currently a member of the AICPA, Colorado Society of CPAs, Western Energy Alliance, and COGA. I received a B.S.B.A. in accounting from Colorado State University and M.T. from the University of Denver.

Outside of the office, I play on a competitive master’s softball team, which travels to warm weather localities throughout the year. Although aches and pains usually result from playing as many as nine softball games over a weekend, I love the competition and camaraderie with teammates.
