My wife and I used to own a Cessna 172 and flew all over the country, including to Iowa football games (I’m a 14-year season-ticket holder) and to friends’ summer homes. I hope to get back to flying some time soon.

Experience

I help clients remove the obstacles that stand in the way of achieving their goals. While I can’t solve every issue, I specialize in financial reporting and planning, strategic development, cost accounting, exit planning, and CFO advisory services. The majority of my clients are manufacturing and distribution companies and educational institutions.

From financial analyst to CFO, I’ve held nearly every position within an accounting organization. I believe it’s important for a finance leader to understand the overall business strategy in conjunction with the numbers to ensure their organization achieves its goals. My clients appreciate that I provide innovative financial solutions that are grounded in simplicity.

I’ve always been interested in how businesses operate and thrive. My parents were entrepreneurs and that inspired me to start my own painting company, which I managed for a few years. As a result, I’ve always enjoyed looking under the hood of a business to understand their inner workings. I love to pass that knowledge on to others to help them look at their own business in different ways and, hopefully, take it to the next level.

I received my B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Iowa. Occasionally, I’ve conducted educational seminars for business owners about preparing their business for a successful exit.

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy supporting my kids’ activities. Other interests of mine include swimming, fishing, and trying to perfect barbeque ribs.
