Headshot of Randy Surratt.

I was fortunate to play professional baseball for two years after college with the Chicago White Sox organization. I was a left-handed pitcher with two of their minor league affiliates in Great Falls, Mont., and Tucson, Ariz.

Experience

I provide audit, tax, and financial reporting consulting services to private equity-owned and owner-managed manufacturing and distribution companies, including those with both domestic and internationally active operations. In addition, I work with our management consulting team to provide acquisition-related consulting services, including quality of earnings analysis, working capital, and opening balance sheet assistance. I also serve as a member of our firm’s New York private equity regional team.

With more than 15 years of experience at Plante Moran, I’ve enjoyed serving manufacturing and distribution organizations in the middle-market space. I’ve always been interested in how products are made and how the entire production process comes together at each organization. I’m also proud of my efforts coaching young staff. In fact, I’ve received our internal award for being someone who best personifies the characteristics of outstanding staff development and mentorship.

I belong to the AICPA, the Michigan Association of CPAs, the Detroit Economic Club, and the Association for Corporate Growth — Detroit and New York chapters. I received my B.B.A. from Wayne State University.

Most of my free time is spent with my wife and our two young sons. We enjoy biking and swimming, and I coach our sons’ baseball teams. If the weather permits, we’re generally outside doing something active.
