Plante Moran Realpoint helps four Michigan school districts pass over $2 billion in bond proposals

Plante Moran Realpoint is excited to announce that four of our Michigan K-12 clients have secured over $2 billion in capital bond funding for school facility upgrades in the November 2026 election cycle.

Plante Moran Realpoint (PMR) is proud to recognize four Michigan K–12 school district clients whose bond proposals passed on November 3, 2026. Together, these voter-approved programs will unlock transformative investments in the schools, learning environments, and communities that will shape their future.

Behind each successful proposal was a vision years in the making, shaped by community priorities and strengthened through public input, including Dearborn Public Schools’ historic $1.51 billion program, the largest voter-approved school bond issue in Michigan history. PMR was honored to help these districts turn their visions into clear, actionable plans through comprehensive capital planning and community-focused informational campaigns.

We congratulate the following districts on reaching this significant milestone:

Dearborn Public Schools

For Dearborn Public Schools, the $1.51 billion bond represents more than a collection of construction projects. Half of the program will be devoted to new construction, including six new preschool-through-eighth-grade schools, while the district’s three traditional high schools will undergo major renovations. Across the district, new career and technical education environments, preschool classrooms, and specialized spaces for students receiving special education services will reflect the changing needs of modern learners. Every one of the district’s 24 schools will receive a safe and secure entrance vestibule, complemented by districtwide security system upgrades. Behind the most visible changes will be equally essential investments in the daily experience of students and staff, from air conditioning and renovated restrooms to improved playgrounds and critical building infrastructure. As Michigan’s third-largest school district, serving 19,347 students and maintaining 37 buildings, Dearborn is embarking on a transformation of extraordinary scale, one that will reshape education across the community for generations to come.

Birmingham Public Schools

With $240 million in new funding, Birmingham Public Schools is building on the momentum of its voter-approved 2021 bond program and advancing a broader vision for the future of education. The next chapter will strengthen safety across the district, address aging infrastructure, and expand hands-on learning environments that prepare students for in-demand careers. Recognizing the importance of balancing technology with movement, exploration, and meaningful connection, the program will also create more opportunities for outdoor learning and play. The district plans to expand its well-established early childhood program, helping address current waitlists while renovating the classrooms where its youngest learners begin some of their most formative years.

Farmington Public Schools

With $171 million in funding, Farmington Public Schools is poised to reimagine learning across all 17 of its school buildings, advancing a district-wide vision rooted in equity, exploration, and opportunity. The program will transform traditional classrooms into flexible, student-centered learning environments; expand opportunities in STEAM, robotics, career and technical education, fine and performing arts, athletics, and early childhood education; and improve the infrastructure that keeps schools safe, accessible, and performing reliably. Media centers will evolve into collaborative iCenters, while indoor, outdoor, and shared spaces will be renewed to inspire hands-on discovery and support the many ways students learn.

DeWitt Public Schools

Shaped by community input and guided by Board of Education leadership, DeWitt Public Schools’ $157 million bond represents a shared vision for the district’s future. The program will strengthen school safety, renew aging facilities, modernize learning environments, and expand opportunities for students in the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. Among its signature projects is a new multipurpose fieldhouse and auxiliary gym, designed to serve as a dynamic destination for student programs, performances, athletic events, and community use. The high school auditorium will also be revitalized with improvements to its seating, flooring, and stage, creating a renewed setting where today’s student performers can discover their talents and take center stage.
