As the leader of Plante Moran Living Forward’s (PMLF’s) senior living development advisory services, Matt guides clients’ efforts to confirm the feasibility and marketability of projects. Clients benefit from his more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, finance, investments, market strategy, and asset management, along with his genuine demeanor and deep cross-functional expertise in senior living.
Before joining PMLF, Matt built an industry-leading renovations division at Atria Senior Living, oversaw financial and business planning for real estate and redevelopment programs, and led the company’s investments and capital planning teams. This experience puts Matt in a position to provide PMLF clients with invaluable insights and leadership based on top-tier, data-driven advice, assisting clients with making the most strategic decisions for their needs.
Prior to his tenure at Atria, Matt held strategic positions at Sunrise Senior Living and Kaiser Permanente, where he excelled in mergers and acquisitions, business development, and strategic planning. At Sunrise Senior Living, he coordinated multiple asset and corporate acquisitions, managed global IT governance, and optimized shared service programs, saving significant costs annually. His role as a strategy consultant at Kaiser Permanente involved developing long-range business plans and evaluating the economic impact of various healthcare investments.
Matt holds an MBA in finance and strategy from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and finance from Miami University’s Richard T. Farmer School of Business.
