Plante Moran Realpoint helps 3 Michigan K-12 districts secure $140 million in bond funding

May 15, 2025 / 1 min read

Plante Moran Realpoint assisted three K-12 clients in securing significant funding for school facility upgrades, thanks to the passage of their bonds in this past May election in Michigan.

We are thrilled to announce that three of our Michigan K-12 clients have successfully passed their bond proposals on May 6, 2025. Plante Moran Realpoint was heavily involved in the capital planning and community informational campaigns for all three districts.

Congratulations to our school district clients for securing the following bond program funding:

Southgate Community Schools

Southgate Community Schools have triumphed with the passage of three ballot initiatives, securing a total of $28.0 million for building improvements and operating funds.

The zero-tax-rate bond will continue the momentum of facility upgrades and renovations from previous capital programs. This bond will specifically enhance safety, security, and technology across the district, including the installation of air conditioning in all schools and various site improvements. Additionally, the operating renewal and two-mill hedge will help the district maintain staffing levels and provide enriching instructional and extracurricular programming opportunities. This comprehensive funding is expected to elevate the learning environment and overall experience for everyone in the district.

Redford Union Community Schools

The $44.3 million bond program for Redford Union Community Schools will consist of district-wide improvements to roofing, flooring, bathrooms, parking lots, and sidewalks. It will also include new instructional technology across the district. This bond will continue much of the momentum from the district’s previous 2021 bond program.

Northview Public Schools

Northview Public Schools secured a $74.6 million bond for district-wide school improvements, which includes a variety of projects such as the installation of air conditioning, lighting, and accessibility upgrades; new buses and technology; and classroom additions, gymnasium additions, cafeteria renovations, security entrances, turf competition fields, locker room improvements, and more.
