Manufacturer “steps” into a new future with HQ relocation

The client

NuStep, LLC, the maker of inclusive fitness equipment sold worldwide, recently committed to relocating from its long-time Ann Arbor headquarters to Plymouth Township, Mich.

The company’s products are used in healthcare, senior living, fitness, and home settings. Known for an innovative approach to wellness, NuStep is the exercise equipment brand of choice for physical therapy centers, cardiac rehabilitation clinics, and senior living communities across the country.

The challenge

When significant growth prompted the manufacturer to evaluate its real estate strategy, NuStep engaged full-service real estate consulting firm Plante Moran Realpoint (PMR), formerly Plante Moran Cresa, to determine its options.

The solution

PMR's tenant representation team, led by Senior Vice President Adam Burgess, helped NuStep develop a vision of a new space reflective of the brand’s culture. PMR also reviewed existing facilities and new construction opportunities around NuStep’s current real estate footprint.

With PMR facilitating each step of the site selection process, NuStep decided to lease a 106,000-square-foot facility located in Plymouth Township, Mich. The manufacturer’s new headquarters consolidates its previously separate office and manufacturing facilities into one central location. The new headquarters will include a wellness area to showcase NuStep’s products, which will also be available for use by associates.

The benefit

“Changing locations was a big decision and an even bigger undertaking. We were grateful to rely on PMR's expertise throughout each step of the process, including the prioritization of critical selection criteria,” said NuStep CEO Eric Sklar. “A move of this scale does not fall within routine business operations and having PMR there to fill in the gaps in our skillsets is helping us to turn our vision into reality.”

PMR's tenant representation team has been helping businesses align their real estate with their business strategy for more than 25 years. Contact us today to see how we can help you achieve your real estate goals.
