Alex Hanley-Shenolikar
Principal CPAExperience
As a firm principal and a leader in our real estate and construction tax practice, I specialize in tax planning, structuring, and compliance. My experience includes working with REITs and funds, investment funds, private equity-backed organizations, and clients involved in M&A transactions. I’m also a member of the firm’s National Tax Office, with a focus on unique and complex matters related to partnership taxation.
Clients appreciate my clear, practical communication style that translates complicated tax issues into actionable insights tailored to each client’s goals. With more than a decade of experience, I consider my greatest accomplishments to be collaborating with my clients to achieve their objectives and helping firm staff develop into trusted advisors with their own clients. Around the office, colleagues know me for my attention to detail, ability to ask thought-provoking questions, and making myself available to consult on unique client issues.
I’m a member of the AICPA, MICPA, and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). I’m often asked to speak to clients, their boards, C-suite decision-makers, and other advisors on a range of tax topics, including structuring considerations, tax planning, and the impact of proposed or enacted tax legislation. I earned my B.A. in economics from Michigan State University and my M.S. in accountancy from Eastern Michigan University.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time on the golf course and making memories with my wife, daughter, and our French bulldog, Winston.
